DJI Mavic 2

DJI has finally revealed their latest innovation: a drone that embodies all of DJI’s advanced, signature technologies and is able to redefine what is possible for the world of aerial photography. After months of speculation, leaked images, pre-printed catalogues and a postponed reveal date, here’s everything you’ve been waiting for and beyond: the Mavic 2.

DJI’s latest flagship consumer drone comes in two new editions: Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom.

Mavic 2 PRO – Iconic Image Quality

Hasselblad Camera

Co-engineered with Hasselblad after two years of extensive research, the Mavic 2 Pro is equipped with the all-new Hasselblad L1D-20C square-shaped camera with Hasselblad’s unique Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution (HNCS) technology, housing an adjustable-aperture lens (f/2.8 – f/11) giving you stunning image results in 20-megapixels.

1-inch CMOS Sensor

The Mavic 2 Pro commands a powerful 1-inch CMOS sensor, offering you amazing image quality in extreme detail with superior light and colour performance even in low-light environments with a more extensive ISO range, max ISO lifted from 3200 to 12800.

10-bit Dlog-M Colour Profile

The Mavic 2 Pro supports a 10-bit Dlog-M Colour Profile that gives you a higher dynamic range for more flexibility when colour grading. The system can record over 1 billion colours and can retain more in-depth details in both highlights and shadows so you can capture even the most subtle gradations.

10-bit HDR Video

The With 4K 10-bit HDR support, the Mavic 2 Pro can be connected into a 4K TV with HLG and will play back video footage with the right colour tones.

Mavic 2 ZOOM – Ultimate Flexibility

24-48mm Optical Zoom Camera

The Mavic 2 Zoom is all about dynamic perspective. With a 2x optical zoom lens, it offers greater safety, efficiency and more creative opportunities.

The 48mm focal length compresses your perspective, with a much better parallax effect for a classic cinematic look.

With the Mavic 2 ZOOM, you’re able to punch in quickly for a tighter shot with 4x lossless Zoom (including 2x optical zoom), even from a hundred meters away, keeping a safe distance from your subject. This opens up a world of opportunities when capturing footage of wildlife, or even to avoid scaring the fish when drone fishing.

Auto-Focus Tracking System

The Mavic 2 Zoom lens is powerful as it adjusts to your commands for seamless zoom control and auto-focus tracking, This keeps your subject sharp while you focus on the framing your shot.

Dolly Zoom

The Mavic 2 Zoom gives you access to dolly zoom, a new QuickShot for the Mavic 2 Zoom. It automatically adjusts focus when flying, for fantastic, other worldly warped perspectives.

48-Megapixel Super Resolution Photos

The Mavic 2 Zoom can capture and patch nine photos with its telephoto lens in 24mm equivalent field of view, giving you a 48-megapixel resolution photo in vivid detail.

“When it comes to portability or quality, small details or the big picture, your vision or reality, Mavic 2 brings the best of both worlds. So you can explore the outer reaches of your imagination and create content that truly feels out of this world.”

Powerful Flight Platform

Mavic 2 extends your creative potential with up to 31 minutes of flight time and a max speed of 72 kilometres per hour in Sports mode.

The all-new OcuSync 2.0 provides a 1080p transmission signal up to 8 kilometres so you can edit Full HD footage directly from the cache on your mobile device. 2.4 to 5.8 GHz auto-switching offers enhanced performance in environments with busy signal interference.

It wouldn’t be a Mavic if it couldn’t go with you anywhere, anytime. DJI kept that same foldable design and tweaked a few things that make a world of difference. After countless hours of research and testing, Mavic 2’s refined chassis and low-noise propellers, make it DJI’s most advanced aerodynamic aircraft to date. This improvement gives you a smoother, quieter flight for when the situation requires more discretion.

Intelligent and Easy to Use

For the first time in a DJI drone, Mavic 2 boasts obstacle sensors on all sides of the aircraft. Its digital nervous system continually transmits data to a new, more powerful central processor.

In APAS mode, the aircraft analyze every inch of its surroundings, to move around obstacles without stopping so you can focus on capturing the perfect shot. Trajectory prediction algorithms also help maintain course when your subject is blocked by an obstruction.

When tracking at high speeds, stay fully immersed in the action with ActiveTrack 2.0. aided by its vision systems, Mavic 2 maps a 3D view of the environment for greater accuracy and tracking up to 72 kilometres per hour.

DJI Goggles users can enjoy an enhanced experience with a clearer video feed and lower latency.

With the new Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom you can:

  • Utilize DJI’s latest 3-axis gimbal technology, ensuring smooth stable footage in any situation.

  • Record 4K video with an advanced H.265 compression so your images retain even more detail.

  • Speed things up with a dynamic aerial hyperlapse with a press of a button.

  • Have 4 different modes for a variety of shots for any timelapse situation.

  • Have enhanced HDR photo, an improved technique that blends a sequence photos for greater dynamic range and image clarity.

The Mavic 2 Pro and Zoom both have excellent camera systems and fantastic features that both professional and novice users may enjoy. The question is, which one are you getting?
